29 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Defence if he has plans to amend the Army Pensions Acts to enable compensation to be awarded to the families of military personnel serving abroad who lose their lives on missions not mandated by the United Nations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I indicated in my reply to Question No. 90 on 11 March 2004, the question of extending my Department's special extra-statutory lump sum compensation scheme to members of the Permanent Defence Force serving with the Organisation for Security and Co-Operation in Europe, OSCE, and other such overseas missions is under consideration in my Department.
