183 Dr. Cowley asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the number of valid planning applications for so called one-off housing in relation to urban and rural areas respectively which are withdrawn by the applicant before a final discussion is made, expressed as a percentage of the total, for each year for the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The information requested is not available in my Department. While planning authorities publish information on the total number of planning applications that they receive and the nature of decisions made, statistics are not provided in relation to the numbers of applications withdrawn before a decision is made by the planning authority.
