401 Mr. Morgan asked the Minister for Education and Science if a resource teacher will be made available to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in view of the fact that the person has been assessed as requiring such a teacher under his Department’s guidelines; when such an appointment will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm that an application for resource teaching support was received and processed for the pupil in question. However, the application did not meet the criteria for resource teaching support as outlined in the relevant Department circular. The school was informed of that in correspondence dated 4 February 2003.
