455 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the reason the ownership of Sligo Harbour has not been handed over to Sligo County Council: if he will advise the reason for the delays: when the necessary approval will be granted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerOfficials from my Department and the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government are considering the modalities for the transfer of Sligo Harbour and certain other harbours operating under the Harbours Act 1946 to local authority ownership. I expect this work will take some months to come to fruition since it involves, inter alia, the undertaking of an audit of the assets and liabilities of the harbours to be transferred.
