501 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason patients in County Kerry are waiting for two years or more to obtain an appointment to see an orthopaedic surgeon at Cork University Hospital; the average waiting time at present for such an appointment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of hospital services in Counties Cork and Kerry is, in the first instance, a matter for the Southern Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the Southern Health Board to investigate the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
