541 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of persons who were placed in nursing homes from Mayo General Hospital in County Mayo as a result of funding provided to the Western Health Board from the winter initiative; the number of nursing home beds that were in use; and the nursing homes that were involved. The provision of health services in the Mayo area is, in the first instance, the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply direct to him as a matter of urgency.
