676 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of bodyguards he takes with him on foreign visits; if his bodyguards have immunity from prosecution if they shoot anybody in a foreign country in the line of duty; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities that, for operational reasons, it is not the practice of the Garda Síochána to provide details of the number of protection officers accompanying any VIPs abroad. All such officers are subject in the normal manner to the national law pertaining in that jurisdiction.
