738 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, in view of the heightened vandalism in the area, he will request the Garda Commissioner to authorise extra uniform or undercover Garda presence in Palmerston Place, off Mountjoy Street Dublin 7, particularly at weekends and between 11 and 12 p.m. [11705/04]
View answerI have been advised by the Garda authorities, which are responsible for the detailed allocation of resources, including personnel, that in the period 1 March 2004 to date, three incidents were reported in the area concerned. I have been informed that local Garda management is satisfied that the current level of resources assigned to the area concerned is adequate and that there are no plans to increase Garda resources in the area concerned at this time. The situation will be kept under review and when additional personnel next become available, the needs of the Dublin 7 area will be fully considered within the overall context of the needs of Garda districts throughout the country.
