171 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if he will make a statement on the possible implications that the revelations concerning falsification of its oil and gas reserves by a company (details supplied) has for its involvement in the exploration sector here. Estimates of reserves of fields discovered offshore under authorisations issued by my Department are evaluated independently by technical experts in my Department. The issue raised by the Deputy has, therefore, no implications for exploration or production in Ireland.
