278 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has satisfied himself that his Department supports the cost of expensive medical appliances for persons with a serious disability only in circumstances in which their income is below medical card guidelines (details supplied); the extent to which Ireland is out of line with other EU countries in failing to provide substantial cost rebates for medical appliances for persons with a disability; and his estimate of the cost of providing hearing aids to persons with an identified acute hearing difficulty without a means test.
