View answerMy Department's regional broadband programme includes plans to roll out broadband to more than 90 towns with a population of 1,500 and over, between now and 2006. Moate is one of the towns listed for inclusion. The group broadband scheme, which is also administered by my Department, offers smaller communities the opportunity to pool their resources and, together with service providers, to apply for funding of up to 55% towards the cost of delivering broadband in their areas. An application has been submitted by a group based in Kinnegad and is currently under consideration.
