Questions (198)

Seymour Crawford

Question:

198 Mr. Crawford asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the situation regarding the two surgeons on suspension in Cavan General Hospital; if she has satisfied herself that sufficient efforts are being made to stabilise the situation in the surgical section of the hospital and to recruit five anaesthetists that would allow Monaghan General Hospital to come back on call thus removing the ongoing crisis; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of services at the Cavan Monaghan hospital group rests with the North Eastern Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to the issues raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
