278 Ms O’Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the contracts of heritage officers employed with local authorities will begin to expire at the end of 2004; if he has plans to ensure that these posts will be maintained; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to the reply to Question No. 386 of 9 November 2004. I understand that 17 of the 24 heritage officers are employed on a contract basis and that the majority of contracts are due to expire between 2005 and 2007.
