428 Mr. Cregan asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the situation in relation to public service pensions; the way in which a person with five years service in the Department of Posts and Telegraphs/Telecom, and on a pension for it, can have this pension supplemented for two years Army service between 1942 and 1944; and the way in which an application should be submitted and processed. My Department has responsibility with regard to public service pensions for former employees of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs who retired prior to 1 January 1984, (the vesting day of An Post and Telecom Éireann — now Eircom. If a person retired prior to 1 January 1984, an application should be made to my Department, together with any relevant details of previous service, for consideration of pension reckonability. If a person retired after 1 January 1984 as an employee of Telecom Éireann or Eircom application should be made to Eircom's superannuation section, 53 Merrion Square, Dublin 2.
