100 Mr. Twomey asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government his views on whether the deluge of planning applications made in December 2004 in order to avail of certain tax reliefs will place an intolerable strain on local authorities which must respond within the statutory timeframe; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under planning legislation, the processing of planning applications is a matter for the individual planning authorities and management of workloads and deployment of resources to that end is an administrative issue for those bodies. My Department is satisfied that planning authorities generally have sufficient resources to deal with the numbers of planning applications received.
