173 Mr. O’Shea asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources when a representative of the workers will be appointed to the port of Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5602/05]
View answerThe appointment of an employee director of the Port of Waterford company falls to be made by me in accordance with the procedure laid down in section 30 of the Harbours Act 1996. The legislation provides that before making the appointment I shall consult any recognised trade union or staff association concerned which, following such consultation, may recommend that I consider that a particular person be appointed as a director of the company. This statutory consultation process is complete and I will be making the appointment in the near future.
