Questions (195)

Paul Connaughton

Question:

225 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway has received such a low single payment entitlement; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that this person lost their entire herd in 1982 through brucellosis and that they had to purchase almost 40,000 of their 42,000 gallon quota; and if she will make a statement on the matter. A provisional statement of entitlements issued to the person named on 22 November 2004. This statement did not reflect the value of payments made to the person named under the new dairy premium scheme, which was introduced in 2004. This scheme will be decoupled in 2005. The single payment entitlements for those farmers who qualify for the decoupled dairy premium will be adjusted later in 2005 to reflect the value of the decoupled dairy premium.
