62 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Transport if he has had discussions with the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government in regard to the routing of the planned M3 motorway, particularly in regard to the Tara-Skryne valley; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The planning, design and implementation of national road improvement projects, including the M3 project, are matters for the National Roads Authority, NRA, and the local authorities concerned — in this case Meath County Council.

In recent months both my officials and myself have informally impressed on the officials and Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the desirability of resolving the archaeological issues relating to the M3 route.
