363 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the timeframe involved in processing an application for naturalisation; the date an application was received by the Department in the name of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 1; if the application is in order; and if a decision in the case will be expedited. The average time for processing applications for naturalisation is 24 months. An application was received in my Department from the person referred to by the Deputy on 12 July, 2002. The applicant's solicitors were informed of my decision to refuse the application and of the reasons for that refusal in a letter dated 3 December 2004.
