226 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of drug seizures for each of the past ten years per district in Dublin; and the type and value of the drugs seized. [18871/05]
View answerI am informed by the Garda authorities that the establishment of a breakdown by district and value of the drugs seized would require an extensive manual search of records and would necessitate an inordinate commitment of resources. Details of figures for the number of cases in which proceedings were commenced can be found in the Garda Síochána annual reports for the years 1995 to 2003. Figures in respect of 2004 are not yet available.

View answerI am informed by the Garda authorities that the establishment of the drug type and the number of firearms involved in the seizures to which the Deputy refers would require an extensive manual search of records and would involve the expenditure of a significant level of resources. The table provides details of drugs seizures valued at over €10,000 where at least one firearm, within the meaning of the Firearms Acts 1925 to 1990, was also seized in the past five years.
