I propose to take Questions Nos. 362 and 371 together.
The report submitted to me by Mr. Shane Murphy SC followed his independent review and thorough examination of the Garda Síochána papers relating to the making by Mr. Dean Lyons of false inculpatory statements in the course of the Garda investigation into the murders of Mary Callinan and Sylvia Sheils on 6-7 March 1997. Consequently, it is not suitable for publication or disclosure to third parties. The report does not in any way constitute an adjudication or finding of fact in relation to either persons or events.
As I indicated to the House in my reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 297 and 300 on 5 October, I am considering the report. In that context, I am consulting the Minister for Finance regarding the establishment of a commission of investigation. As I indicated then, I will keep the House informed of developments.
