View answerThe amount allocated to Bus Éireann, which operates the school transport scheme on behalf of my Department, in the 2004 calendar year was €94.6 million. The expenditure is calculated under several headings including driver costs, running costs, road tax, payments to contractors, wages, insurance, claims and so forth. Receipts from fare paying passengers are also taken into account.
