View answerThe planning, design and implementation of national road improvement projects, including the Dublin Port tunnel, is a matter for the National Roads Authority and the local authorities concerned. The NRA states that the primary construction work on the port tunnel is expected to be completed in December 2005 and that the tunnel will be open to traffic by mid-2006, following the testing and commissioning of the its operations and safety features. The final cost is estimated to be €751 million at 2005 prices.
