228 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in view of recent reports in Britain of the increased threat posed by foreign agencies attempting to obtain industrial secrets, the assurances he will give that the intelligence services here are making all efforts to protect Irish interests from foreign intelligence services which may be operating here (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. I assure the Deputy that the authorities are fully aware of the potential damage that may be caused by unauthorised access to industrial secrets by non-national entities. In this context, every effort is made to identify any vulnerabilities that may exist and to guard against non-national entities potentially engaged in industrial espionage.
