McGrath asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí who received overtime during 2004 as a percentage of all serving gardaí; the average payment awarded to gardaí; the top 20 amounts of overtime paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have been informed by the Garda authorities, who are responsible for the detailed allocation of resources, including personnel, that the number of gardaí who received overtime during 2004 as a percentage of all serving gardaí was 96%, the average overtime payment was €6,670 in 2004 and the top 20 amounts paid in overtime were as follows:
