402 Ms O’Sullivan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of cases in which a complaint has been made to the Garda Síochána in which a false report of child abuse has been made, contrary to section 5 of the Protections for Persons Reporting Child Abuse Act 1998 or contrary to cognate legislation; the number of cases in which files have been forwarded to the DPP; the number of cases in which prosecutions have been initiated and the outcome; his views on whether the section provides adequate protection for persons against whom false reports may be made or is otherwise in need of updating or revision; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
