29 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the size of Ireland’s licensed sea fishery fleets for 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002 and 2001; and the impact of the decommissioning scheme for the whitefish and shellfish fleets on the number of boat licences in these sectors since October 2005. The number of vessels registered in the Irish Fishing Fleet at 31 December for the years 2001-2005 by segment are contained in the following tables. The impact of the decommissioning scheme is that currently Irelands Fishing Fleet has been reduced by 30 vessels, of which 21 were from the Polyvalent segment and 9 from the Specific segment. The total capacity of these 30 vessels was 4152 GT and 13461 Kws.
