I am informed by the Garda authorities that local Garda management is not aware of any complaints of this type of incident. However, if such complaints are received they will be thoroughly investigated. While CCTV is an excellent aid to An Garda Síochána in the investigation of crime, Garda management do not consider that the provision of a CCTV system in this instance could be justified. I am further informed that local Garda management will continue to monitor the situation and any such incidents will of course be investigated in order to deal effectively with offenders who breach the criminal law.
