I can confirm to the Deputy that the school to which he refers has applied to this Department for capital funding for a Resource Room/Parent Room. The project has been assessed in accordance with the published prioritisation criteria for large scale building projects and has been assigned a Band 3 rating. Progress on the project is being considered in the context of the School Building and Modernisation Programme from 2007 onwards.

Joe Costello

Question:

160 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Education and Science when the new replacement primary school for a school (details supplied) in Dublin 1 will be constructed; if she will provide for a rooftop canopy to protect the rooftop playground from the elements; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am pleased to inform the Deputy that tenders are currently being examined for the new school in question. When this process is completed, my Department will be authorising the project to progress to construction. The new school will completely transform the facilities available to this school community. The tendered project does not include for a rooftop canopy in view of the significant additional cost involved.
