Ruairí Quinn

Question:

226 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Finance the reason 14 mature trees were removed from the surrounds of Irishtown Garda station during the period 20 to 25 November 2006; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this is a conservation area and as such material changes should not be made without the due processes being followed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The removal of the trees was carried out following technical advice that the trees were adversely affecting the structural stability of the boundary wall. As part of the redevelopment of the site currently underway new trees will be planted.
