421 Ms C. Murphy asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the way he will ensure availability of larger broadband widths; the strategy being adopted to allow real choice for Internet, telephone and television services through this medium; if it is expected such improvements will be dependent on the private sector solely; the obstacles identified as impediments and the solutions proposed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The provision of telecommunications services, including broadband, is a matter in the first instance for the private sector companies operating in a fully liberalised market, regulated by the independent Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg).
