Questions (442)

Paul Nicholas Gogarty

Question:

502 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Education and Science if her attention has been drawn to the dispute between lecturers and students on the one hand and the management of Dundalk IT on the other regarding clamping of students’ and lecturers’ vehicles and the provision of parking spaces in an area short of local public transport; the powers she has to intervene in such a situation; if she will write to the Governors of the college asking for real dialogue between the parties concerned to begin to help sort out a small problem but one which is causing much outrage and risks leading to industrial action. I would advise the Deputy that traffic management at Dundalk Institute of Technology is a matter for the management authorities of the Institute. The Deputy may wish to contact the management authorities of the Institute directly in this matter.
