Written answers

I am not aware of any such investment made by An Post. In accordance with the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act 1983 and the Department of Finance Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies, an investment of this nature would require prior approval by me, along with the consent of the Minister for Finance.

Matters relating to quality and levels of postal service are a matter in the first instance for the management and board of An Post. The Commission for Communications Regulation, ComReg, is responsible for the monitoring, measurement and regulation of the postal sector including measuring the levels of service to be achieved by An Post and ensuring that the company abides by its statutory universal service obligations.
