View answerThe rail freight market is fully liberalised and I will be glad to consider any proposals that will assist in expanding the use of rail freight but the business environment is such that no real opportunities have been identified.
It should be noted that the operation and upgrading of the railway service already benefits from substantial Exchequer capital and current funding – nearly €600m in 2007.
