197 Dr. Cowley asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs his views on whether there is need for the extension of Mulranny Pier, County Mayo; if he will provide the necessary funding, in view of the need to upgrade this piece of infrastructure as it is a valuable asset to the area and its surrounds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Further to previous replies to the Deputy in relation to this matter, my Department has not received an application for funding for this pier. However, I understand that officials in Mayo County Council have indicated that an application for funding has been made to the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources since January 2007.
