Róisín Shortall

Question:

781 Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if her attention has been drawn to an application from a school (details supplied) in Dublin 9 for emergency works funding in order to erect security fencing; and if, in view of the on-going threat to the school from break-ins and Garda requests for such fencing, she will give early approval to this application. The Modernisation and Policy Unit of my Department received an application for emergency funding for the erection of security fencing from the school in question in September 2007. It was not possible to provide funding for these works from the Emergency Works Scheme at that time as the Scheme was fully subscribed for 2007.

This application is being held on file and will be assessed again for 2008 in the context of my Department's multi-annual School Building and Modernisation Programme.
