248 Deputy Joe Carey asked the Minister for Transport his plans in relation to improving road markings throughout the country in view of the fact that better quality road markings on roads here would reduce road traffic accidents; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16427/08]
View answerThe road authorities are responsible for the provision and maintenance of traffic sign road markings. Statutory directions regarding the provision and use of road markings are set out in the Traffic Signs Manual. A comprehensive review of the Manual is nearing completion and it is proposed that an updated Manual will be published later this year.
