At the end of August 2008 the number of cars taxed in the CO2 bands F and G was 565 and 15 cars respectively. Applying the tax increases suggested to this number of vehicles, paying tax on a yearly basis, would give additional tax revenue of €610,000 per year. This calculation does not take into account future changes to the number of vehicles taxed under the new emissions based system, which came into effect from 1 July 2008.
