700 Deputy Andrew Doyle asked the Minister for Transport, further to Parliamentary Question No. 210 of 24 June 2008, the position regarding approved alternative support mechanisms to allow for a reduced rate of fuel excise duty in respect of school buses and other public transport coaches. View answerThe Finance Act 2008 provides the basis for the removal of excise duty reliefs in the bus sector with effect from 1 November 2008.
The position in regard to school transport is a matter for the Minister for Education and Science, while the position in regard to coach tourism is a matter for the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism.
