989 Deputy Willie Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will take steps to have an application for a visa in respect of a person (details supplied) expedited, in view of the fact that all the necessary details were furnished in relation to deeds of dwelling house, bank statements, passport and so on by the person involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThe visa application referred to by the Deputy was received in the Visa Office in Dublin on 14 August 2008. It was refused by the Visa Officer on 15 September 2008 for a number of reasons. There was insufficient documentation submitted in support of the application. The evidence of finances was deemed insufficient or incomplete. There was no evidence shown of a relationship being in existence prior to the visa application. It is open to the applicant to submit an appeal within two months of the date of decision, in this case before 15 November 2008.
