250 Deputy Jack Wall asked the Minister for Health and Children if there is a grant system or funding available to groups (details supplied) to carry out research and technology improvements relating to the care of senior citizens; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [32194/08]
View answerResponsibility for funding a range of agencies dealing with services for older people rests with the Health Service Executive. Applications for funding for the purposes described by the Deputy would, in the first instance, be a matter for consideration by the Executive. In addition, the Office for Older People intends to progress the Strategy on Positive Ageing. Research needs and how to promote technological initiatives in relation to older people in the future are among the issues to be considered in this context.
