423 Deputy Mary Upton asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the number of special advisers employed by himself and his Minister of State; the role of these special advisers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32352/08]

I currently have one Special (Press) Adviser employed in the Department. The role of the Special Adviser is set out in Section 11 of the Public Service Management Act 1997. Minister of State Mr. Martin Mansergh T.D. does not have a Special Adviser at the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism.
