139 Deputy Kieran O’Donnell asked the Minister for Health and Children the additional resources, beds and staff theatre capacity that have been allocated to Waterford General Hospital to deal with the extra caseload of cancer patients from the surrounding community hospitals in that area in view of the fact that cancer services in that region are to be closed and moved to Wexford General Hospital from October 2008; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The specific question raised by the Deputy relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the HSE under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to respond directly to the Deputy in this regard.
