Question:

566 Deputy Paul Gogarty asked the Minister for Education and Science the results of the survey carried out regarding the suitability of the current site occupied by a school (details supplied) in County Dublin for a permanent generically built two-stream school; his plans to use this site in view of the fact that it is being offered by the VEC in return for some work on its schools; if he will allow the current site to be used for a permanent school; if the planning process will begin shortly; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I take it that the Deputy is referring to Gaeilscoil Eiscir Riada in Lucan.

The Department is in negotiations with County Dublin Vocational Education Committee regarding the provision of a site for the school in question.

The acquisition of the site will be considered in the context of the capital budget available to my Department for school buildings generally. I am not in a position to say at this stage when the acquisition will be concluded.
