351 Deputy Brendan Howlin asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the status of the National Rural Development Programme 2007 to 2014; when the evaluation of business plans received under the programme will be completed; if he will confirm that the programme will be open to applications for grant assistance in respect of projects in late October 2008; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm to the Deputy that I am announcing the Rural Development Programme funding allocations today. I anticipate that contracts will be signed over the coming weeks, at which stage the Programme will be open to applications for grant assistance.
