561 Deputy Fergus O’Dowd asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources the public transport services used by him since he came into office or since 2007 on official business; the destinations travelled to; the cost of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Since coming into office I have used both the Luas and Iarnród Éireann on official departmental business. I travel within Dublin on the Luas occasionally and I have travelled to a number of destinations including Cork, Tralee and Thurles by train.

I also used the following public transport while I was abroad on official business:

Subway in New York;

Tube in London;

Metro and Vélib bicycle in Paris;

Metro in Tokyo.
