336 Deputy James Bannon asked the Minister for Transport when the preferred selected route of the new Mullingar to Longford motorway will be decided on; if there will be further public consultation, following the selection of the emerging preferred route, to minimise the impact on land owners and local people; when the project will be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme element of Transport 21. The implementation of individual national road projects is a matter for the National Roads Authority (NRA) under the Roads Act, 1993 in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.
