175 Deputy Joan Burton asked the Minister for Finance further to Parliamentary Question No. 127 of 1 December 2009, the total tax paid; the median tax paid; the mean tax paid and the standard deviation of tax paid for each quartile in the bracket over €100,000 for each of the sector categories. View answerI am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the most recently completed historical data available on incomes is in respect of the income tax year 2007. On this basis the information requested in relation to income earners earning over €100,000 by reference to income quartiles is set out in the tables. To assemble the figures by income quartile, the total number of income earners with earnings over €100,000 on the income tax record for 2007 was broken down into 4 equal groups in each sector and distributed over 4 income ranges in ascending order of income. The figures for amount of tax, median tax, mean tax and the standard deviation were then established for each quartile group as appropriate.
