713 Deputy Joe Costello asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the amount of rent supplement paid to the private rental sector for housing in Dublin in each of the past five years; the number of tenants who have benefitted in each of the past five years; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Rent Supplement is administered on behalf of the Department of Social and Family Affairs by the Health Service Executive as part of the Supplementary Welfare Allowance (SWA) scheme.

A breakdown of Rent Supplement expenditure for individual counties is not available. However, the attached tabular statement shows the number of recipients of Rent Supplement in Dublin for the past five years.
