1042 Deputy Brian Hayes asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will establish the current number of outstanding applications for grants which have to date in 2010 not been awarded by the relevant authority for the 2009-2010 college year in respect of the 66 awarding bodies for higher education grants to students. The information requested by the Deputy has been supplied to my Department by the local authorities and the Vocational Education Committees. The following table displays the number of new applications in respect of which processing had not commenced. It is not possible to establish the number of these unprocessed applications which will lead to awards.
